Verify backed-up data
Once data has backed up to the server you need to verify that you can see the data before you wipe the drive that had the original data. Even though you may see the size of the data by looking at it in the server. The data itself needs to be verified.
Windows
To verify that the data has backed up the Windows server
- Get a shop drive that has equal or greater storage then the backup
- Plug the drive in the EaseUS machine and boot up EaseUS
- Once you have booted into Ease in the top right corner click on “Recovery”
- Click on “Browse” and then click “NAS Device”
- From there enter in the correct information to access the Windows backup server
- Select “PC Backups” until you see the backups of the other devices. Find the backup that you need to check. Select the folder and keep going down until you get to the actual data file
- After clicking on the file click “Ok”. From there select the entire drive by clicking the top box
- To the right of the screen it will ask where you are recovering too
- Select the drive that is hooked up to the Ease machine. (The recovery drive is going to be wiped once the data starts being recovered)
- Click on “Proceed”. The data is going to start recovering to the drive
The backup will still remain on the server. It is just being cloned to the drive. Once the recovery process has finished take the drive and plug it into a windows computer. Open up the drive and verify the data. You don’t need to check every file. Just check one of everything. Videos, PDF’s, Pictures, etc. If everything looks good then you are free to move forward with the data transfer.
Mac
I recommend doing this on a shop mac but it can be done on the cx’s device.
- Open up the mac backup server through Finder.
- Go into the server and find the backup that you want to verify.
- Double click on the file and it will download on the device.
- Once the download has completed. Open up the sparsebundle and look at the data. Check on everything (PDF’s, video, pictures, etc.). Once you have verified the data eject the sparsebundle and resume the data transfer.
