Reserving an IP Address

You may be requested to reserve an IP Address for a computer, so that it can be accessed remotely. This has, in the past, only been for select Goldsboro computers. The instructions below are for Goldsboro computers only:

  1. Remote into the Goldsboro server (SERVER2019) in ScreenConnect and login as an administrator
  2. Go to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> DHCP
  3. In the DHCP program, drill down to DHCP --> server2019.ncsound.local --> Scope [192.168.250.0]
  4. Take note of the start and end IP address in the "Address Pool" section. Your reserved IP should fall outside of this range
  5. Open the "Reservations" section and take note of the existing reservations - in the next step you will be choosing a reservation that is not one of these
  6. Right-click "Reservations" and click "New Reservation"
    1. Name: A relevant name for this reservation (computer name, for example)
    2. IP Address: Enter a new, unreserved IP address outside of the DHCP scope you noted earlier
    3. MAC address: The MAC Address of the computer
    4. Description: A relevant description including today's date
    5. Supported Types: Both
    6. "Add"

The next time the computer connects to their Goldsboro office, it will be assigned this static IP

Additional setup when the user gets the computer:

  1. Sign in to Microsoft 365 apps (open any Microsoft 365 app - if not prompted to sign in, then they already are and you can skip this step)
  2. Sign in to Adobe Reader with their NC Sound email address to upgrade it to Adobe DC
  3. Open ShareFile, enter the domain (ncsound) and login with their NC Sound email
