No Power

This document covers what to do if the computer will not turn on


Laptops

Get $120 auth up front for no power.

  1. Attach a known good power adapter, to a known good power outlet, then plug in the computer. Wait 2 minutes for power to get to the device.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Issue resolved. Replace the power adapter.


No - Go to step 2 | | 2. Unplug the known good power cable, then open the device. Unplug the battery and reconnect the known good power adapter. Try powering on the computer.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Replace the battery.


No - Go to step 3 | | 3. Unplug the known good power adapter and hold the power button to drain residual power. Try attaching a known good DC jack/IO Board to test the issue.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Replace the DC Jack


No/Dont have part - Replace the motherboard |

Desktops

1. Plug the computer into a known good power outlet with a known good power cable.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Issue resolved, replace the power cable.


No - Go to step 2 | | 2. Check the cables inside the computer (power button, motherboard, cpu, power supply cables). Reseat any cables that are loose and not connected fully.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Issue resolved, if you need to replace a cable then do so. Reseating will probably fix it if it stays on.


No - Go to step 3 | | 3. Replace the power supply with a known good power supply.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Issue resolved, replace the power supply.


No - Go to step 4 | | 4. Replace the motherboard.

Does the computer turn on?

| Yes - Issue resolved.


No - Replace the CPU |
