How to deal with Ransomware
When dealing with Ransomware let the cx know right at the beginning that the chance of us being able to get past the Ransomware is less than 1%. They are most likely going to lose their data. Ransomware is malicious software that locks down a computer and stops the user from accessing their device/data. Typically the owner of the Ransomware will demand a ransom for the key to unlock the device.
- Do not connect the device to the internet. There may be remote software on the device that came with the ransomware.
- From here the only thing to do is wipe the device and do an OS reload. This goes for both Windows, Mac, and IOS devices.
- Once you have reloaded the OS, run diagnostics on the device to make sure all of the hardware is working.
- From there the device will be good to go
