Migrate Microsoft 365 from other MSP to Managed (Synnex) Microsoft 365
When to use this guide
Use this guide when we are migrating a Microsoft 365 tenant from another service provider (such as CPU, Soundside, Computer Geeks, etc) or when we are taking over an existing tenant that the customer set up themselves.
The tenant must have been purchased and configured either directly from Microsoft or through a reseller (such as Synnex, Ingram, etc). This guide is not applicable for GoDaddy M365 tenants. Use the GoDaddy M365 guide for that.
Preparation
The customer will not experience any downtime or changes to their account during this process. The transition happens seamlessly behind the scenes.
- Request an admin account from the losing provider if we are taking over from another MSP, or request an admin account from the user if they are managing their own tenant. This will be an unlicensed user with all admin privileges
Do the migration
- Sign into the M365 admin center at https://admin.microsoft.com
- Paste the Delegated Admin Request Link (below) into the same tab from step 2
- Accept the reseller agreement
- Login to Synnex and navigate to StreamOne Stellr and confirm that the customer is now listed in the Address Book
- Purchase equivalent licenses for the customer (or whatever licenses they paid for in the proposal they signed - but usually it is 1:1)
Confirm in the M365 admin center for the tenant that they have their existing licenses and the new licenses
- For example, a tenant that previously had 5/5 M365 Business Standard licenses applied should now show 5/10 M365 Business Standard licenses
- Once confirmed, inform the losing provider that they can cancel their subscriptions now
- Remove the losing MSP from the Partners page in the M365 Admin Center
- Remove any unlicensed admins owned by the losing MSP from Active Users
And that's it. No additional steps are required, as you didn't actually have to migrate anything - you simply took over as the delegated admin.

You must open this link from the customer's M365 tenant while logged in as an administrator user of that tenant.
