Create prorated subscription

Basic procedure for creating a prorated subscription. The goal is to:

  • Create a Stripe subscription on a trial basis
  • Add a positive balance to the customer’s Stripe account representing the subscription cost for prorated days
  • Have the prorated balance + first full month subscription charged at the end of the trial

The problem this is solving is:

  • Customer wants subscription to be drafted on a particular day (usually, the 1st or 5th of the month).

Procedure

Create trial subscription

  1. Begin by starting the subscription creation process in Stripe.
    1. If you need to make the Stripe customer first, do this before you begin.
  2. On the subscription creation page, find the option to create the subscription on a trial basis.
  3. Determine the number of days that the subscription should remain in trial mode. The number of days should equal the difference in days between now and the day that the customer wants the subscription to start.

Add positive balance to Stripe customer

Just keep adding subsections for each significant portion of the procedure. If more detailed structuring is needed, use the “Heading 3” styling.
