How To Price
This article covers how to price all repairs by hand. Many repairs already have prices set for them, and this article will have those linked resources, but for anything that's not we will show you how to price it yourself.
GSX Mac Repairs
There are two types of mac repairs. Ones we do through GSX and ones we do without GSX.
Most repairs are broken into three parts:
- Labor
- Parts
- Software Work
One of these things may come out to $0 for the customer, and therefore won't be in the cart for checkout, but these are the things we always charge for. When it comes to labor you want to consider how much time it will take to complete everything related to the job. This includes time spent on the repair, time spent talking to the customer on the phone, time spent on check in and check out, and time spent on diagnostics.
*As a general rule of thumb *
We charge 1.5 hour of labor: for small repairs like reseating cables, replacing ram, or any repair you can complete in under 20 minutes on actual work time. (The reason we say repairs you can complete in under 20 minutes is because, like stated above, the diagnostics, check in and check out, and phone calls with the customer all get factored in which adds up.)
We charge 2 hours for slightly longer repairs: like display replacements on laptops and most repairs we do.
Finally we charge 3 hours for anything related to removing and replacing the logic board and other very intensive repairs: Logic boards usually require you to remove almost everything from a computer before you can get the board out as well as they are the most expensive if something happens to it.
- *When it comes to parts ordered through GSX *we charge the “exchange price” that GSX shows for the part + 50% or $100 (whichever is smaller). There is a $25 minimum for any part we order.
- *When it comes to parts ordered through third party sources *we charge the price of the part + 50%. There is a $25 minimum for any part we order.

Windows Repairs
Just about all of our parts for Windows computer repairs are purchased through third party vendors. Nevertheless we price all windows repairs the same.

Logic Boards
Windows computer logic boards are special, as they play an important role in the computer. These parts often do not go bad, and we should hesitate to recommend replacing them to customers. They are expensive and if the issue was caused by a manufacturing defect, then replacing the board could bring about the same issue.
For this reason, we charge a 100% mark up on windows computer logic boards.
Rounding Up
When pricing parts, feel free to round up. The display in the Windows Computer example, could easily be rounded up to $125. If a part is worth more then our 50% mark up, then we should charge accordingly. We spend our time and our expertise to find and warranty the parts we order, and if we find a good discount on a part that is a time for us to reap extra benefits from that.
Additionally, round whole numbers are easy to position and for customers to understand.
Software Work
We charge a minimum of $120 with the usual case being $180. If all of the hardware passes on a computer, and the customer is still having an issue, then quote the customer $180 for software work.
