OS Reload

Before you reload any OS be sure to have the data backed up if the cx cares about there's. Verify that you can see the cx’s data before you reload the OS. Make sure you are connected via Ethernet.


Reload WindowsOS

  1. Plug a bootable media of Windows 10/11 into the device. Then power on the device and boot to the boot menu. (The button for the boot menu varies on device. Typically it is ESC or F12)
  2. Once you are in the boot menu. Select the bootable media for the Windows 10/11 installer. The device will boot into the installer.
  3. Once you are in the Windows installer. Select “Install now”. The next screen will ask you to accept the terms and conditions. Check the box to accept the terms.
  4. The next screen will show you all the partitions of the drive inside the device. Delete all the partitions. After deleting everything you will be left with one partition. Click on that partition and then click “install”
  5. Windows will now be installed on the drive. This can take between 30-45 minutes. Once Windows has installed it will walk you through the setup process. Go through the process with minimal set up.
  6. Once you get to the account creation. For the username type “Owner”. For the password just hit enter. This will make it to where there is no password on the account. If it does require a password then type “password”.
  7. You have now installed Windows. If it needs a data migration be sure to send it to the remote. If it does not need data be sure to update it to the latest version.

Installing MacOS

There are two methods for reloading Mac OS. You can boot to a bootable media or you can use internet recovery.

To reload using internet recovery:

  1. Power on the device and hold “Command + Option + R”.
  2. Once you are inside recovery mode click on “Disk Utility”.
  3. Locate the drive that you are reloading the OS on (it is typically at the top of the list). Click on the drive and click “Erase”.
  4. Format the drive to “APFS”. If APFS is not available then select “MAC OS Extended (journaled)” > Click “Format”
  5. Once the drive has reformatted, exit out of disk utility.
  6. Click on “Reinstall _MacOS”_
  7. Click “Continue”.
  8. Click on the drive that you want to install the OS on. The OS will now start installing on the drive.

This may take up to an hour to complete.

  1. Once the OS has been installed you will go through the setup process. Do a minimal set up.

  3. Hit continue and you will now go into the OS. If the cx wants data then go through Migration Assistant. If the cx does not want data then be sure to update the OS to its latest version

To reload via a bootable installer:

  1. Plug the installer into the device > Power on the computer and hold the “Option” key
  2. Select the bootable installer you have connectedOnce you are inside recovery mode click on “Disk Utility”.
  3. Locate the drive that you are reloading the OS on (it is typically at the top of the list). Click on the drive and click “Erase”.
  4. Format the drive to “APFS”. If APFS is not available then select “MAC OS Extended (journaled)” > Click “Format”
  5. Once the drive has reformatted, exit out of disk utility.
  6. Click on “Reinstall _MacOS”_
  7. Click “Continue”.
  8. Click on the drive that you want to install the OS on. The OS will now start installing on the drive.
