How to Turn Off Find My on Your Apple Device

Before selling, trading, or bringing your Apple device in for repair at University PC Care, you’ll need to turn off Find My. This ensures that your device can be reset, serviced, or transferred to a new owner without any issues.
Why it matters:
Find My includes Activation Lock, a security feature that prevents unauthorized access to your device. Apple requires it to be disabled before any work can be performed.
Turn Off Find My on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your Apple ID name at the top.
- Choose Find My.
- Tap Find My iPhone (or iPad).
- Toggle it off.
- Enter your Apple ID password to confirm.
Turn Off Find My on a Mac
- Click the Apple menu () and go to System Settings or System Preferences.
- Select your Apple ID.
- Click iCloud.
- Choose Find My Mac.
- Toggle it off.
- Enter your Apple ID password to disable.
Turn Off Find My on Apple Watch
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the My Watch tab.
- Select your watch at the top, then tap the info (i) button.
- Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
- Enter your Apple ID password when prompted.
Need to Remove It Remotely?
If you no longer have the device:
- Go to iCloud.com.
- Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Select Find iPhone.
- Click All Devices, then choose the device.
- Select Remove from Account.
If you can not recieve verification codes:
- Go to iCloud.com/find.
- Sign in with your Apple ID.
- Click All Devices, then choose the device.
- Select Remove from Account.
